Tight/Sharp Turn Techniques
"The Tight Turn (also known as the Gretzky Turn) is shown above by Tony Granato, from our video "Secrets of Hockey Speed, Vol. 1" ...
Notice how Tony stays low to the ice for power and strength over his turn and how he keeps his upper body parallel with the ice. Players have a tendency to lean in too much with the inside ear and shoulder when performing the tight turn and this will cause the edges to come out from under you (gravity will take over), causing you to fall. Also, make every attempt to balance over the back of the edges (both inside and outside) for a better grip throughout the turn."
